Aikido Cards consist of seperate cards for each attack and defence in traditional aikido. That is 10 attacks, 15 defences, 10 x 5th kyu grading, 3 x Hamni stance cards, Tai no henka, Suwari waza kokyu ho and Kokyu nage. There are 45 cards in total, with the same black backing for face down random sequencing.

Materials

Aikido cards are printed on 350gsm FSC artboard gloss laminated and have a high quality feel. The small 8 page booklet included is a guide to aikido, the cards and their use.

Care Instructions

Cards have a protective UV varnish on 350gsm and will last several years. Small blemishes can be wiped off with a damp cloth.

Basics in practice

In a conventional dojo, sensei demonstrates a technique to the class with an uke, ie. one who receives ukemi. The class then pairs off and practices attack and defence together - one person assumes the attacker role (uke), the other the defender role (nage). Then we swap and continue until the next technique. Rolling forward and backward ukemi are very much a skill and will need dedicated focus. A dojo with a qualified sensei will ensure you get experienced, safe instruction.
